A day in Nork

Post by flisk »

Let's do an ongoing story, when the post ends is where your part of the story will begin! If by some reason there is a double post, the first one to make a post will be the "official" post that the next person should use.

Please try to format these in a readable way, no, you don't need to be a stickler for spelling or punctuation, but c'mon, let's not have a 200 word sentence. Haha!
Also, try to quote the ending of the previous post just to help things flow together.

I'll kick it off...

Stars glinted off of the pool that stood just a few paces south of the Steel Flower. Among the reflection of those stars was also that of a tattered and torn adventurer. She gazed deeply into the water, not seeing it's surface, not even seeing the water within, but instead she saw something sinister. Her eyes grew closed and she breathed in a deep sigh.
Yes, she had died, but thankfully there are powers in this land that can rip the body away to a safe place before the Final Death takes hold. What she saw in the pool was the events that lead to her death.
Her mind was foggy, but she knew that she had a weapon of some kind, evidently when your body is thrown to that safe place, whatever was in your hands does not go with you.
Some massive, large, and drooling had lept out at her in the darkness. Whatever it was she could not see it clearly. It had taken her by surprise.
The even came back to her at full force now, she knew exactly where to go to retrieve her weapon. She also knew that she would need help getting there and defeating the vile creature that bested her from the darkness.
She turned and face the open door to the Steel Flower Pub and walked in to seek help...

She turned and face the open door to the Steel Flower Pub and walked in to seek help...causiously she start walking towards the bar, her eyes searching the room for fellow adventures whom she has hunted with and trusted. To her dismay none could be found but there where small groups of adventures gathered around tables, some very loud and some very quiet as if plotting something sinister. In the shadows our brave adventure spoted movement of a lone warrior..................

In the shadows our brave adventure spotted movement of a lone warrior. As she approached the hooded figure, she could fell her heart in her chest like the beating of a huge Roc’s wings as it takes flight, she didn’t know what she was going to say to this person but know she was going to need the help of someone. After going to the back room of the steel flower and buying a few heal potions and some scrolls, she headed back to the table of the lone, shadow laden figure…………

After going to the back room of the steel flower and buying a few heal potions and some scrolls, she headed back to the table of the lone, shadow laden figure. She stood silently at first, nervous to engage with this shadowy stranger. He kept the cowl of his hood pulled low, his head looking downwards at the strong drink he took momentary sips of. Finally, she mustered up what courage she had and settled herself in a seat across from the stranger. She meant to say something...anything really, a greeting perhaps, but then the shadowy figure looked up at her. He tossed the hood back over his head, and she let out an inaudible gasp............

He tossed the hood back over his head, and she let out an inaudible gasp as she knew this man from the stories she has been told. The stories of how he broke into the Kings castle and lifted a relic of great power.Of how he seems to survive when death should of taken him. The mear mention of his name sends childern clinging to there mothers. But she knew all to well, That he alone knew the workings of the underworld. Only he can venture where others cower. Knowing this may be only hope she tells her story.................

Only he can venture where others cower. Knowing this may be only hope she tells her story.... He gave a sinister, but seemingly pleasant smile to the young woman as he read her. Although he spoke, the words could not be understood, they were faint mumbles masked by the noisy occupants of the tavern. As she leaned in closer to try to comprehend what he was saying, she could feel a warmth about her, as if the air around her was warming quickly. She looked around, trying to find answers to this puzzle, but none could be found. The tavern was warmed by a small fire on the other side of the room, near the staircase leading to a hall dedicated to those adventurers deamed to be seen as Gods among the youthful occupants of the township of Nork.

The figure accross the table smiled again. She then knew it was him. He was speaking again, but this time in a foreign language--a language she had heard return from the borderlands where many people had gone to explore, but never to return. Return, she thought for many seconds, which seemed like hours, but seconds were used, nonetheless. Borderlands, they seemed so familiar, yet distant. Her sword, the vile creature who killed her, it all rushed back into her concious mind now. She must return to the borderlands.

She could feel the warmth again, but this time it made her feel stronger. A bright glow was eminating from her body, she could hear words playing in her mind. "Listen to me my child, I will help. Do not fear me." She looked accross the table and once again, memories flooded her mind......

Right then she saw the face of the man who had caused so much grief in her life, And as quickly as the face appeared letters were scrawled in the air, almost as if been there just hiding behind some invisible force. The letter's Arrived one by one G.....R......A......
then all of the sudden the air grew tense, she then heard the twang of a bow. Some unknown assailent had struck the dark adventurer across from her straight threw his heart. As he lay there daying he spoke to her, and this is what he said. "it is up to you to stop the evil that will soon befall this land. There is a dark army in the west being formed as we speek, It is up to you and a few other rather special indivvduals through out the land to save the world. As you travel to your goals you will meet these individuals. the first you need to meet is a thief, his last where abouts where in the town of me..me..uhhhhhhhhhg. With that she gatherd the only clues she had available to her and began her journey. When she left Dark clouds were forming over head and the air was dense.

A thief. Where could she find a thief? She had heard rumors of a legendary thief-only guild in the castle of maeling, south of the yeti isle and west of the evil forest, north of a the legendary town of frore, and east of the caves. But how would she get there, for the portal to this town had been dismantled long ago by the legendary sorcerer. The beginning portal had flawed and only entrance could be gained to maeling; no portal returned. If only she could remember more about where her sword had been lost, she had clues and could feel hints of mysticysm in the dense air, pulling her towards this place they call the borderlands. But what of this army in the west? And what of Frore? Maybe the great King could provide her with the answers she needed, or perhaps the legendary healers and mentalists she remembered from what seemed to be a time long ago. She needed answers, answers that only one person could possibly give her, and he was dead.

But what of this thief, she must travel to maeling. Maeling, a town long forgotten and ignored due to its location. Those with the skill necissary to travel to maeling easily often traveled by means of teleportation in one way or another. Her first step must include finding a new sword. A simple storebought sword would not do, perhaps she can find a blacksmith willing to help her. Or better yet, possibly find a few people to travel with her into the Norken Dungeons to slay a vile creature who held a very powerful weapon......
