Haiku's of Enlightenment

Post by Atom »

Sign said no smoking
There was only room for two
Good thing i wear diapers

Floating asteroid
Back to school sale at the mall
It hurt for a week

Gentle breezes come
Please try not to cook yourself
Some fat guy falls down

What is a Haiku?
I do not know this, do you?
Should you explain it?

Greetings Citizen!
Heard any good haikus lately?

Floating asteroid...
Got to buy some school supplies...
You're soaking in it.

Moltar:

Smell the burning flesh
Taste the tangy sulfur air
Volcano season

Zorak:

Mantis green and strong
Deadly pincers razor sharp
Waiting for his chance

Haiku has 3 lines of 5, 7 and 4 syllables, but people take liberties depending on their mood.

Some variations further restrict the subject matter to commentary on nature, or use nature or the seasons as symbols of the human condition.

When I was very young, far too many years ago than I care to remember, my first love moved away in the fall. My parents said I was being silly for being so sad, that I did not know what love was, etc etc. I still reflect on a haiku I wrote, although its inspiration has changed dramatically over the years as I married and had children of my own.

My warm days have left.
Will our love be remembered?
Youth knows sorrow!

Here's one that I conjured in only a few seconds. I call it,

Broken Heart Society

The love I had felt
Tearing at my tender soul
It is still with me

With it I am strong
No one understands its might
I am all alone

Power comes from God
I asked for strength many times
Patience is painful

Should this be a sign
I still wait for an answer
Did he forget me

I never knew pain
I know it so closely now
I'm only sixteen

(c) - Crusher 2004

It's unfinished tho.

EDIT- I thought Haiku's had 17 syllables, Line 1 - 5, Line 2 - 7, Line 3 - 5.

It is 5-7-5. Did one many, many moons ago in high school.
Starfire: There are two wolves fighting in each man's heart. One is Love, the other is Hate.
Ghost: Which one wins?
Starfire: The one you feed the most.

Whoever created ham
Please forgive myself

but wait, there is more
I can't wait for the toaster
it is all ready

and now for the end
the end is very near now
