Here's an idea, probably worth nothing, but isn't there a King in Frore? He is without Excali...
Has anybody ever tried or tested anything with excali and the King in Frore?
It's just a thought.

Well First for GhostGuest, I have thought of it, but the alter does nothing when you step towards it. *There are actually two alters in N-1 that I can think of and have tested, The other is near the Hidden shops near the N-4 Drop hole*
Roland, but what about putting your bits of Wisdom into words? do you have to say something on the second step?
Emily, good point, might be something to check out, I hope you dont have to give Excali to him to find out LOL

Some things to remember about this, First - The bits of Wisdom into words on the Second step.
Second - It has something to do with the Mausolems
3rd - The alters probe your mind when you try to step on them
Keep these in mind when you are trying to figure out the clues
And dont forget to goto my web site and post your ideas and findings too. This will help future players to know what we have tried when we were doing this.

Another tiny trivial detail (probably nothing), but when somebody (or a scroll) mentioned "bits of wisdom in words... " I was just thinking that it could it ba a play on words.
2 bits of wisdom = 2 cents worth.
"cents" sounds a lot like "scents"
For some reason, standing in the middle of the Norktown Mausoleum, it mentions the smell of "pine".
It's an odd detail, but it could mean something. I have not yet found a way to stand on the center hex of any of the other Mausoleums, so no idea if they mention any "scents".

That's interesting Emily. On the way to the M-4 double ninja lair, when you try to pass one of the doors, you get a message about a scent of pine, and you have to hold an item to get past there. I forget if it's a ninja sash or a tengu SER though. But that would be 2 places where the scent of pine is mentioned. May have to hold something to get in.

Emily, just blow up the Pillars around the one in Pally Trainers Area, then you can get to the hex infront of alter

I'm pretty sure the mind-probe is checking what your class is. I.E. are you a paladin.

"That which cannot be...has....broken.... that which held it must be found"
-Excalibur
And there is a description of a sword in stone in the norktown mausoleum.

When we were mapping and taking screenshots of the Cloud Castle Mausoleum, I tried disintegrate, blast, illusion, fireball, icestorm and door... none of which seemed to work.Originally posted by purg

i'm wondering what there is missing at the dots though.
Earlier today, a player from MPGN (did i spelled that right) called "ancientdead"mentioned "has the quest with the alter in snowbeast castle been activated?"DS;"You mean the mausoleum?"AD: "yes thats it"
more information might be available from him, but this does point in the direction off the king in frore.

there's a boulder in front of the nork mausoleum, anyone tried laying the sword on the altar?

ok lets think about this as a possiblity. There is Nork, CG, and PT <pally trainer>.
They all surrond Yeti Island. Ok hold on to that idea for a minute.
Sword and the Stone. King author pulled the sword from the stone. So maybe we have to find a Stone. Now keep this in mind
Back at Yeti Island, Near its boat docks is a stone surrounded by walls, WHY? this maybe the stone the sword was pulled from. So im going to start Investigating this idea

The acronym sounds like it's on the money T.K etc.
Maybe you have to strike stone with sword (Excali) or place it one stone.. Using text command, I mean.
Maybe water mauselum involves revealing water hexes until something found?
Maybe, you need 4 players to activate 4 mauseleums together (or leave whatever in each and hope no one picks up).

Does Excali's EC only work on contact or can it be activated by command. maybe have to do that right on stone? Might bury it into stone? Damn, this is intriguing. Never knew there were still unsolved riddles left.

I was the one asking about this darn quest in the chat room last night. I played when it was first put in (circa 1994), and no one could solve it. There was a rumour that one player did something at one of the alters and was transported to a "new area", but this was not repeatable by other players.
Its hard to imagine that no one was able to fiure out this quest since then. Maybe it really was never activated.

Thats the Thing, no one knows if it has or hasn't been solved/removed from game EXCEPT the Drakkar Staff, and you all know what happens if you ask them a question
*i still swear they all took question answering Classes from Bill Clinton*
So until I get a DEFINITE yes or no that its been removed from game by Brad, Pax, or Randyo. Im going to continue working on solving this quest. *unless someone figures it out before me*

Here's a bit about what I remember from long ago...
The four mausoleums were Nork, Pally Trainer, CG Lair, and Evil Nork.
Some people thought that Evil Nork may have been the Water Mausloleum becuase it is the "opposite" of Nork.
I believe people have tested placing the various crystals on the altars, in correspondence to the type but I don't know of it working. Most people figured that the crystals were part of the King's quest and so would not be connected, but who knows... Brad is a sneaky one.
With regard to excalibur, excalibur was the item that could not be broken, but there were 2 things which held it. 1 was the stone from which excalibur was pulled. The other was Excalibur's sheath, which according to legend prevented the wearer from suffering from bleeding wounds. You might also consider the lady of the lake. She also "held" the sword at various points in the story and is the last "person" known to have held it because she caught it when it was thrown back into the lake when Arthur died.
The scroll that speaks of the mausoleum of wishes, was widely believed to be the CG lair because people used to set their twigs on the 2nd square away from the front door to the castle "2nd step". I think this was the only twiggable spot or something. You'll have to check as it's been a long time. I know there are twiggable spots within the castle, but the CG used to roam around a lot and we were all a lot smaller back then <G>
Just my 2 cents.

something else to take note of, and i dont know if this means anything at all, but 1 of the three alters has a symbol on it. The nork alter has a Healers Symbol on it,a and a Snake on Each side of it. I dont really know if this is important or not.
As I think about snakes, i remember on 3.5 there is an alter there in the Snake room, but i think the Mausolem quest was created a long time before 3.5, So I doubt this has anything to do with it. Maybe this is something we should look into about the symbols.

Why does the website/BBS that's trying to figure this out show Pally Trainer maus with water? Do the pillars become water when destroyed? Also, how do you stand on hex before that altar. I can't jump to it. I dropped down dead end hole down there and had to twig out. Drop an IH, came back later and it was empty. Unless I was a bonehead and used empty one, something drank it.
If you can't get to that hex, maybe you can use levitation pot to go up to that hex?
Also, what if each maus require you throw or place pot that matched that element onto altar. Or related gem? If it was a pally thing, I'd figure that casting a related spell to that maus may activate something.
That bit about wishes and reflecting at 2nd step make sense at CG.
Or maybe each elements has to be present per maus.
CG: Icestorm (water) on land (earth) in the clouds (air), add fire?
Nork: Altar on boulder (earth) surrounded by (fire), help me out
Pally Trainer: Underground (earth), on a island (water), water pillars surrounded by air drops (air), add fire
You see where I'm going? Neither do I. But I notice each altar relates to more than 1 element (I know nothing about evil Nork but that has to be the 4th one)
Maybe if the pillars are destroyed, you can determine which maus it really is.
