Comet Story

Those looking at the Southern Norkan sky late Thursday evening saw a comet streaking across towards the horizon. The tail was said to be roughly 18 Norkan Miles in length. It is uncertain as to what the comet itself was comprised of.

"Right now we can see no ill effects as a result of this comet." King of Frore had to say, just minutes after it was seen. It is also known that Tehruh will be passing thru the last mile of the comet's tail. The King went on to say; "People of the Norkan Lands should not be in fear of this, it's not the first time we have seen such celestial events, and doubtful it will be the last." The last time a comet was seen was about a year ago. It is not known if this is the same comet or not.

Regardless, Norkan inhabitants are warned to keep an eye skyward "just incase" and to report any rocks falling from the sky.

Sounds From Below Pally Isle

Radink, Paladin's Isle sole inhabitant noticed odd sounds coming from the cavern below his home. For years he has trained those pure of heart, using the cave below as a further testing facility. "It has many monsters down there, each one used for a different training technique, but lately something odd has been happening. I went down there and saw all the monsters slaughtered, the odd part was, there was no-one down there training at the time it happened."

Radink contined, "I have already sent a small band of adventurers down there to investigate, but they were able to find nothing. Perhaps my ears are just going, I know that I am getting old, but that does not explain the slaughtered monsters."

When asked if a thief hiding in the shadows could be responsible Radink muttered something about "not possible" then he promptly ended the interview.

Comet Update
As Tehruh passes thru the tail end of this comet odd things have begun to happen. Some folks have complained of being overly tired, others claim to be feeling sick. Some of the vegitation has begun to wilt, and it appears that some of the local pets have gone missing.

"None of this has been confirmed as being caused by this comet." King of Frore stated. He continued, "However, we are doing what we can to figure this out. In the meantime the sky is a beautiful color of red." Darwin, from Nork Proper, informed us that he was going to keep the Steel Flower open all night and day as a place of refuge for any who are too tired to work, feel sick, or cannot find their pets.

Darwin said, "What a better place to get a pick-me-up than the Steel Flower? Feeling tired? Drink some Stans! Feeling sick? Drink some Stans! Lost your pet? Drink some more Stans! Trust me, with enough Stans in ya, you won't care about that comet!"

Pally Isle Floods and Burns

Late Sunday afternoon Radink informed the Norkan Times that part of his island was submerged under about 4 feet of water. "It came from everywhere!" Radink told us.

Many adventurers came to investigate the water, but no source was ever found. One adventurer did report to us that no flooding was apparent under the island in the training areas, but that one room broke out in open flames. The flames were put out moments after they started.

Investigation is still underway from last weeks odd sounds that came from below, but again no evidence of that has been found. It is not known if the comet that Tehruh is currently passing through is a cause of this or not.

Feeling a little under the weather Radink asked one of his long time students, Benforin the Brave, to help assist any adventurers that may need enlightenment in the ways of the Paladin. Again, it is not known if Radink's ailment is caused by the comet or not.

Item Plummet-Comet Related?

During the past week many have noticed a steady decrease in overall sales of several Norkan Items. Items that normally hold decent value. "That's not to say that the items themselves have decreased in value, it's just that no-one is selling them as much right now." Mayor of Ratburrow had to say.

He went on to say; "I figure that many people are hanging onto their items just incase this entire comet thing turns out to be something bad. We have noticed some strange things down here in Ratburrow too, but mostly those folk up in Nork Proper, whew! They are having a rough time it sounds like!"

The last time the Nork Item Market was this low was just over a year ago, shortly after the great Sysop Massacre that took place in Frore.

Sickness Continues

"It's all pretty gross." Darwin told us, "Everyone comes in caughing and sneezing, fouling up the join ya know? But still, they order lots of Stans, and it's hard to turn away gold, even if it is covered in snot."

The King of Frore still maintains that none of this is as a result of Tehruh passing through the comet's tail. "There is simply NO evidence. Everyone is suffering from Mass Hysteria!" he claims.

So far illnesses and wilting crops have been reported from Nork, Maeling, Ratburrow, Homlet, and 2 cases in Frore. Even the Famous teams the Norkan Nomads and Homlet's Hammers have had illnesses among their players.

Gowe, one of Nork's Healers said; "It's not too bad yet. But it's getting worse. Many are showing strange signs of illness. This is very real despite what the King of Frore claims."

Lava Heat
New ways of heating homes and businesses in Frore have been saving hundreds of gold per month! "Volcano town has been using this method for years! Why we never thought to use it, well, we are now!" The King of Frore said.

After several months of digging, small lava tubes have been run underneath most of the homes and businesses in Frore, allowing for a natural on-going heat. The King of Frore went on to say; "It is very economical, and should last a few thousand years. Or at least until our volcano erupts..."

Other towns are looking into this same method of heating as well. The only problem seems to be is tapping into a volcanic lava tube that runs close enough. Nork thinks they have found one just a few feet beneath them, they continue to survey the area. Maeling and other smaller towns do not have any surveys scheduled at this time.

Homlet's Hammers

Homelt's Hammers do a total shut out to the Norkan Nomads in the big game! The coach attribute their win to lots of practice, good eating, and plenty of exercise.

What's next for Homlet's Hammers? The coach told us that the team is planning on taking on the famed Doomtown Troopers of the Cobrahn area. That game is set for three weeks away. In the mean time the coach has a rigerous workout set in place. "I'm not going to let them get soft around the edges!" he said.
