Notes on Hide: Revisited

Post by Darge »

Seeing as the server wipe destroyed my original post, here it is again, but with more info!

The 'blink' range is a 9 hide level range between being fully seen, and being fully hidden. This means that if you completely hide to something at 50 agility, at 40 agi they will completely see you, and from 41 to 49 agi, you will blink to them.

1 hex away- +5 hide

2 hexes away- bonus increases to +20 hide. At two hexes, 'blinking' stops. This means that the difference between being seen, and being hidden is 1 level of hide (or 1 point of agi above 20.)

3 and 4 hexes away are the same as 2 hexes away. No hide boost from being further away than 2 hexes.

Killer Halberd- in hand is -16 levels of hide

Killer GS- in hand is -15 levels of hide

Killer LS- in hand is -11 levels of hide

Killer Mace- in hand is -5 levels of hide (of the +10 agi boost, you're only getting +5 for hide)

Killer SS- No hide penalty (full +10 agi boost for hide purposes)

Killer Dagger- No hide penalty

Aid- +14 levels of hide at sk 37 casting

Tarak Robe- +11 levels to see hide, does not stack with other tarak robes.

Lazloth Robe- +30 levels to see hide, does not stack with other laz robes.

Weapon Concealment- +.5 hide per purchase (WC 20 is +10 to hide)

It is worth noting that these results for the killers seem to apply to all other weapons of the same skill. That means the -5 penalty from killer mace also applies to medusa shield and so forth.

Anyone tested how an Axe compares with the other weapons for hiding?

In my many incarnations of thief characters on drak, I've found that axe compares roughly to LS maybe a little bit harder to hide with.

Thats great to know, but I am curious if any skilled thieves could break down the thief hide abilitys for Nork dungeons and lairs a bit more.

So based on the above mentioned post every +2 agiity up to 20 is +1 hide and +1 hide per agility after that? Is that correct?

How did you come up with a 10 point level system of hide?

At skill 13 thief with 23 agility, bare handed, I know I can hide @ 2 hex from RD, Griffy, and Frore/Prison Minos. N7 I cant hide at all. KM1 My hide is horrible.

Agility below 20 is kind of wonky. I ran some tests months back, and came to the conclusion that the hide difference for 3 agility and 18 agility is almost, if not entirely, negligible. So, if I didn't flub the numbers, that means that you're only getting about +3 levels of hide boost from your agility; not that great.

As far as how I determined there is a 10 point hide-see gap, I just ran player vs player hide tests through a gamut of Agility scores, and then applied it to NPC testing.
