Deflective Fury

Post by srflynn64 »

ive noticed that im not even getting any deflects and only armour type blocks. Even though im in an area that im taking hits and also have DF maxed at 20/20

when zerking down i still only get armour blocks

and im naked at time

tests i did for this were n1-n7 and UD1/2

when i do get deflects how do i know that it is the quirk causing this or if its the natural deflect ability.

maybe like riposte comes on the scroll in black writing or when you have an attack deflect from a npc - how about having You deflect the attack more noticable as i am not seeing any at froth at all

You'll know for a very simple reason. At 20/20, and even below that, you can deflect at froth. Deflects are checked after misses, after weapon blocks, and after armor. Thus, the checks for deflects are such that you can only deflect an attack that would otherwise strike you.

Beyond what I said above, all I can tell you is that I can verify it works as Crusher and I tested it, and saw it trigger numerous times while testing other things.

Other than the possibility that new coding has caused an issue, I think you might be expecting Froth deflects to occur more than they actually will. From what I have seen, the quirk is not intended to give deflects at froth as a viable defensive ability, but more as a slight defensive boost at froth, with more payoff below.

the only way i can see that deflect is working is by a deflect setting off riposte

if that is the case then it works fine, but not in a aspect of just deflecting with no other outcome from it

One real easy test --

If ya get ANY deflects while in ANY stage of berserk --- it's from the quirk category.

Barbarians without quirks do not get ANY deflects while in berserk stages.

Also, be aware that if you get the "encumbered by your armor" messages, you will never get any deflects (berserked as well as non-berserked).

Actually, before points were ever in DF. You could get deflects up to Crazed, but once you hit OOC or Frothing the deflects stopped completely. They basically scaled down as you zerked up. Maybe 15% at Unzerked, 10% at Fidgety, 7% at Anxious, 4% at Wild, 2% at Crazed.
