Who would you like to see win the election?
This isn't who you think will win, this isn't who you're necessarily going to vote for... its just who you would really like to see win, regardless of reality. Lets see how this turns out.

Guys this is neat, but please be mindful to not allow it to turn into a flame war. Politics seem to have a way of doing that, but rest assured it does not need to resort to flames. I'm not accusing anyone of making a flame; I'm just making a preemptive statement.
Thanks!

I don't care really, but something sorta on topic (politics): did anyone see the Jon Stewart spot on CNN's "Crossfire"? One of the most classic TV spots I've seen in years, especially if you're familiar with the players involved.
Here's a link to it:

Or, the transcript if you're on dialup, or that link is down, or you're like me and don't have a sound card:

I don't see a woman president in the near future. It's nothing against women or anything, I just find it highly unlikely. Hilary Clinton in my opinion is not a good person. I think she knew everything that was going on with Bill and Monica and the other women. Now i do think shes a smart girl, i think she used that positive propaganda to boost her own political career and she is where she is today b/c of what Bill did, if it wouldve never happened she wouldnt be a public figure anymore, just like any other first lady. Due to those reasons i dont think shes a good person, and i would never like to see her as president...of course this is just my opinion, politics is very opinion oriented.

I'm going for Bush. I would like a few things to happen in the next few years:
1. Third Party Pres.
I'd like to shut those people up that say it's a two party system by America voting for a third party in the 21st century
2. A woman pres.
Goodness help up us all if Hilary becomes president (:p), I hope for a woman to become president, however, at some point. Would be nice...
3. A democratic presidential candidate I'd vote for
So far, since I've been paying attention to politics (since I was about 10), I'd not vote for a democratic president. In my area, I've been going for democrats, but I've not seen a democratic presidential candidate that I'd vote for.
So that's about it...

I personally would like to see anyone who actually cared about the country and not just money or power get elected, but since that's not a plausable option this year, I would like all of you to vote for Kerry, and then get him outta there in 4 years. I don't want to see either of them in office, but I definately don't want either to have 2 terms. Plz help our future!

Well, skain, consider this:
Throughout history, it's been proven. Incumbent party getting into office=good for the economy.
When the non incumbent (I don't even know if I'm spelling that right...) gets into office, people have a certain level of uncertainty, and will pull back their stocks, take their money out of the bank, and hide it all under the bed until things are more sure. This hurts the economy, as more people do this to combat the bad economy that develops! It is true that this eventually goes away, but it doesn't help when you had your money in stocks and was depending on that money (as many senior citizens do) to buy a loaf of bread next month, it really doesn't help for the here and now.
Also, please don't listen to Micheal Moore on figures... it's bad for your health. I prostrate and beg and plead and kiss at your feet for you not to! :p

Much as I'd like to continue lurking here, I feel compelled to respond to some of ZhouYu's statements made in this thread (which seem based on the same questionable reasoning I've seen displayed in game-related discussion threads).
As someone with a history background and a financial services career, I don't know where you get the idea that "it's been proven. Incumbent party getting into office=good for the economy." Do you mean like the case of Herbert Hoover (Republican) succeeding Calvin Coolidge (Republican) just prior to the collapse of the market and banking systems and the start of the Great Depression? Or George H. W. Bush (Republican) succeeding Ronald Reagan (Republican) before losing re-election based on economic issues? Markets tend to be apolitical, and often bounce after any election simply because the general uncertainty is past and everyone can now place their more informed bets. Probably the worst thing that could happen would be a repeat of 2000, where weeks of uncertainty sent the financial markets into a tailspin.
And anyone, especially retired people and senior citizens, who rely on stock-based assets to "to buy a loaf of bread next month" are either getting extremely bad advice or are profoundly incapable of handling their own financial affairs. The stock market is by nature volatile and speculative - if you are relying on invested assets for your income and well-being, you should be in considerably safer asset classes (such as bonds or money market funds).
Harking back to an earlier post in this thread, you mention that you'd like to "shut those people up that say it's a two party system." The party system, flawed as it is, is a byproduct of the American system of democracy. Our winner-take-all system, whereby 51% of the votes = 100% of the power, makes boring, mass-appeal parties in a dual-party system the natural result. The only time "third parties" have ever been feasible in our system was when one of the previously powerful parties was imploding (like the Republican "third-party" that co-existed briefly with the mighty Whigs before they collapsed prior to the Civil War). Until the unlikely time we change the Constitution to allow for a proportional representation system, there is no possibility that a viable third party will get a foothold in the US.
*gets down off soap-box and slips back into the shadows...
