Poor HP gain

Made level 20 today. The HP gain? 11. Thats right, eleven.

Stats as follows:
Will 19 , Str 29 , Charisma 18, Luck 18 (Pfft), Con 21

Total Str= 23 (Base) + 4 (FP) + 3 (Rings) + 1 (Slith) + holding 2 Barb only Str Hally. Should have been atleast 31 even if Hally str adds do not count as I am Pally and not Barb. But it showed 29 on stats.

Was hoping HP gain would be more around 20 at the minimum. Any comments?

Also, I did chit training (10 Meg). Exp gain was mostly between 566k and 580k. Except once, it was 360k. This was done with 21 Charisma (while buying chit and training with it).

Is there a max for stats such as Str when items (wearing/holding) that add Str?

Strength doesn't affect HP gained from leveling, Constitution does. Only base stats matter as well.

Correct. I should have mentioned there are two issues (unrelated as you have pointed out)

(1) Con 21 but HP gain was only eleven ( 18 + 2 DIon + 1 Cedar). Doesn't 21 count as base?

(2) The Str stat was 29 even with the following items worn (or held in case of hally)
Total Str= 23 (Base) + 4 (FP) + 3 (Rings) + 1 (Slith) + holding 2 Barb only Str Hally
I expected it should have been 31 atelast (not counting str adds from Hally).
Str of 23 is from 3 rocks + 2 Dion.

This is coming from memory, but I recall Brad saying that at 20 or 21 Intelligence, Mentalists get a +1 bonus to their EP rolls for every point thereafter. I imagine Constitution and Wisdom work the same way, so your 21 base is likely not doing a bunch for your rolls.

As for your question about Strength, until higher levels, you can only get a maximum of a +6 bonus to any single stat.

Brad's made a similar remark about thieves, where every point of agility after 20 counts as a point towards the player's hide. So applying the same concept to a ment's intelligence, or any roller's constitution wouldn't be a far stretch.

Poor HP gain...there we go again. My pally made lvl 21 today. Got 13 HP. Nothing to brag about. Con is 22. I was hoping last time was just a bad luck (got 11 last time). I am not so sure about this anymore. A friend mentioned that as you go higher level, the HP gain at levelling gets low. Is this substantiable?

For the sake of collecting statistics, I would appreciate if you could post what HP gain you got while levelling between 20 and 25. Please mention Class, level at which the HP gain is mentioned and also whether you rested in Nork, Cob or NL.

I wouldn't read much into two levels of gains.. I documented all of my gains from 20 something to 50..wide range..sometimes get nice gains 3 or 4 levels in a row, but same with poor gains.

Here are my hp gains from 22 to 50...f/m....no idea where the rests were, but always tried to max str, con, int, before resting, just in case:

I didn't think pallys got the barb bonus to str from str hally.
Has this been changed?
