The tilesets from KoD 2 are currently being used in the new 24bit GUI.
There was also talk of doing a KoD 3, which would be in 3D. Back in the early iEntertainment days of KoD I believe.

Heya folks,
IF memory serves me right Drak2 was the 3D version of KOD. It was started up and closed out before gamehub was sold to Ientertainment! Heck I never played it though some friends of mine did, and well they sortof enjoyed it I think. Again this happened a looooooooong time ago, and what you are referring to might be totally something different from what I'm referring too! (As usual )

I recall there was much trouble andmoaning about the day/night cycle.

My first memory of Drak 2 was Night time.
I had a lamp in hand and could not figure out how to turn it on.
Then I found a lamp in town and somehow managed to get mine lit up.
Oh, and water hurt.

Drakkar 2 used the same images as the new FE, one crit per hex I believe. And it had really cool trainer windows which became mousepads.

It was like 4 crits per hex. I remember getting knocked down in n-1, then getting hit for 20 damage by a rockman. Money was also much harder to come by. It reminded me of playing in Mjorin on my level 18 char. I remember drowning because water did like 20 damage to my level 2 char. If more people would have played it, it would have been great, but the lag was kinda bad.

Drakkar II was a beta at the time, and had its very own bug and feedback forum.
It brought a few new elements to the table, water damage, and day and night cycles, with corresponding light sources as well. It was also more of an attempt at 3d graphics than what we were used to previously in Drakkar.
At the time, it didnt go over well at all. As a matter of fact people hated it and hated the day and nite cycles, the water damage, and pretty much any attempt at making Drakkar 3d.
People complained so much about it that it was eventualy scrapped. It was slow, difficult for folks to start over from scratch and a bit more of a challenge than alot of people were up to. It was also very buggy.
My impression from back then was that the resources to keep developing it werent available, so one day it just disappeared.
What I found startling these years later was how much the most recent FE (24 bit) resembled Drakkar II.
After looking at this thread I dug up the old CD's, and looked at some of the jacket pictures, and I was reminded just how much it looks like what we are using now as a front end.
Since not alot of players are still around from that time, and very few of them are likely to be a pack rat like me and never throw anything away... We scanned the images for everyone to see a blast from the past so to speak.
A repeat look, or a fresh look at the Drakkar 2 jacket, mailer and MPGN CD's depending on your viewpoint.
Thanks go out to Bluedot for hosting the images.
