As I understand the calculation stated by Brad above, upon a crit death ...

yourXP = CRITvalueXP * (yourXPlevel / XPofALLpartyMEMBERS)

yourSKILL = CRITvalueSKILL * (yourSKILLlevel / SKILLofALLpartyMEMBERS)

If these two calculations are seperate, then it seems a fair distribution to me, because if a larger player is using a lower skilled attack then they will only get the lion share of the XP, not the skill.

Since thieves use two skills to backstab, then they would NOT be a party favorite, unless there is a post corrective calculation for them.

The above calculations do not address issues of party risk vs a monster (types of attacks by the MOB, its prots, its weapons, its armor, #ofMOBcrits on screen, and so on.). But that discussion is another thread.

hehe, ran a test in nl later that night...

1 hour in nl and the skill 14 pally made 63% skill, while my skill 14 fm made 62% skill, so thats semi-normal at least :D

oh, and also, Party xp is calculated like this :

({Crit Xp}*([Your xp level]/[Average Party Xp Level]))*(Party xp nerf factor)

party xp nerf factor is 1 for partyies of 1, 2, 3 people, seems to be 2/3 for parties of 4 people, 1/2 for parties of 5, and i havent tested for parties of more than that

If Practice makes perfect, and nobody's perfect, then why practice?
If ignorance is bliss, why aren’t more people happy?
What are those little things on the end of your shoelaces called?
and finally...

If money is the root of all evil then how come churches ask for it?

Hehe Yeti,

I don't think you meant the equation you typed. Plug in some numbers and you will see what I mean. Your current one would allow 2x XP vs solo, for a big guy with a small guy. I have never seen this.

Shadeth, I think Brad said that the skill each person gets, is based upon the equation using the exp lvl's, reason for why I didn't think it was logical. He said that the factor that the amount of skill a deaded crit gives is determined by:

(Your EXP lvl/ ToTal EXP lvl's of party) * (amount of skill deaded crit gives).

Ztink,
Your example in the Keep sewers may have been skewed to the fact that the skill 15 player was more than likely above the skill cap, whereas skill 14 is below the Cob skill cap. Meaning, the skill 14 was more than likely having a cap applied to the skill he was getting from things when the skill 15 wasn't, reason for the skill 15 to receive higher skill gains. To the best of my knowledge, from skillin various skills up on my thiefy, it seemed that the Cob skill cap comes off somewhere in skill 15, not right at skill 15.
