Incentive program

Post by Brad »

I'm always thinking, and being asked, about a drakkar incentive program "sign up your friends"..

My question to the customers is.. would you prefer rewards as in free play time (months free), or IN GAME unique rewards like special rings, etc.

The question really is, what would motivate YOU to try to get your friends hooked?

For me either would be good, but I have one question. Would this be for pay accounts only? Or would free be able to participate? ie. If a free got a friend to sign up and go pay would he get still get the gifts or if it's free time when he signed up for pay would he get it? It's a real good idea brad!
I'm sciencing as fast as I can.

I would prefer the free play time, as I miss my account... but hey, if I can not play it, where is the incentive...? Give it to your players 1st before we can pass it on :D

When I first discovered Drakkar I sent the link to 4 people that I know in real life. None of them had the time.

I would disapprove of in game rewards on same basis that I disapprove of account lockers ... it blurs the line between in-game & out of game.

And since the goal is to increase the amount of cash coming into Drakkar, let the reward be in kind. If it were my business, I'd consider free UGH access as a reward. The rewarded may decide after their free period that they would like to subscribe. Most people that I know have slots without GH access.

I have several players hooked now.

I require no incentive, just bug fixes is all I ask.

Fix the Attack sash, fix the Titanium shield, fix the heart in new FE.

Just simple things that used to be fine and now are not.

I will keep people rolling in as I find them.

I would think that more incentive to upgrade to Gold Plan would be better for you Brad.

Put more interesting things GH or CH that would work wonders.

The doors are already wide open to all who want a free game.

Make the skill gains noticable when purchasing Gold.
Make purchses cheaper when negotiating with Hit doc or EPS doc.

Just off-the-wall stuff.

I'm done for now.

While incentives are nice, I think anyone who likes the game will tell their friends about it and probably get them to at least try it. I know I have gotten a few people to play this game (pay) over the years.

Focus on bug fixes, expansion etc. That will guarantee that you keep the existing customers and also encourage them to spread the word.

btw.. if you insist on incentives I would choose in-game ;-)

So is the general concensus in game vs free play time?

(yes, bug fixes, blah blah, but thats like telling general motors don't advertise till you fix my tire. Bug fixes come as time allows anyway)

I think most people would prefer in-game goodies. We're all addicts and in-game goodies spice things up :-)

But one man's 'goodie', is another man's "Is THIS all?"

'Coin of the realm' is actually free services.

I was wondering though,,,, if it is in game goodies: would it be advertised what those goodies may be for each tier attained ? Also would it be based on total new paying accounts or perhaps the total dollar amount generated from the new accounts based on a monthly period ? I think a gold plan paying 4 slots upper gh should give a lil better goodie than just a new silver plan account. ;)

(just throwing this out)

Could do 2 "max" hps a month, for every dollar a month someone spends.

So, if you sign up 10 friends at 10 bucks a month, you would have 200 hps added to your max every month they are a member.

(Kind of like gold)..

Thats the extreme... Kick it back a bit, and you'd see that it would be 10 or 20 normally.

Bagh... Make that retroactive and I'd have an extra 4000 hits:p

Seriously, I think its natural for people to drag their frinds to the game they play and a small in game trinket would provide enough reward. Big game perks would provide diminishing returns and perhaps create resentment. Its best to achieve crit status with in game accomplishments.

Aye, give a little incentive ( even if small ) and I think you would have more helping you accomplish your goal ( more paying customers ).

i think psicutter bracers for dragging in 10 people would be pretty good incentive, since i've never seen any in any segment.
