how about a limited mail/message system that you can leave for someone who is offline.
i understand that this may lead to abuse such as spamming, etc. maybe a limit such as 10 messages a day, or you can set who you want to receive messages from, etc.
dont know how to make it foolproof, but just an idea.

I think there is some option like this in these forums under myhome and messenger, i tried sending you a message not sure if you got it, then i tried sending another and it said i reached my limit even though i sent one and it says the daily limit is 7.
