Ideas for Refuge Events - Add yours here

Post by curiousredmonkey »

To kick this thread off, here are two events: First something short and simple. Followed by something longer and more complex...
  • An "Anvil Event", where all anvils are turned on for one day. (Of course you must still have iron-bread, for the armor upgrade to work. And you must still find the proper level anvil, to do the proper level armor upgrade.)
The last hour of the event, Drakkar broadcasts the message, "Power Anvil" mode started. This allows every anvil the ability to do any level upgrades, but it will require a "Power Iron-Bread" (that only drops during this last hour). (The anvil checks the armor for its lowest unfinished armor upgrade, thus motivating you to fill in upgrades as fast as you can).
    • A "Pied Piper" Event, where any NPC in range of your music will find you and then follow you back to the "Pied Piper" for your reward. Walk through the dungeon playing the flute. Double click the flute to begin its tune. Music plays at the "shout" level of detection.
      • The "Pied Piper" blue quester NPC gives you the flute and asks you to bring a certain type of creature to him. If you can, turn in many at one time, for greater rewards. It starts off easy, with "Rat", "Dog", and so forth and eventually transitions to humanoid NPCs, "Stunner", "Tengu", etc. The final phase could be a "Dragon".
      • The flute requires two hands to play it. Each flute that is given by the Piper will charm a different type of creature. As you turn in a creature(s), you are given a new flute that affects a different type of creature. He will replace your flute, which must be in hand, with a new one. The quest can only be done, one time, per slot, per event. The flute can control up to X number of creatures at a time. I would suggest 20, but this may need to be tweaked.
      • For a little extra fun, have it play a tune or/and a song with the name of the creature inserted. Example:
"<insert npc type>. Here me one. Here me all."
"I am the Pied Piper, follow me through room and hall."
      • The more NPCs you turn in, AT ONE TIME, the stronger the reward. One creature, +1 perm stat/whatever. Two, +2. etc.
      • The reward type should grow with the difficulty of NPC (how deep you must travel in the dungeon to find/lead them); beginning with tasty (perm stat building) sweets similar to other Primal Events. Then comes items that cast tiers like other Primal Events (think Snow Globe, etc.). Followed by gear with awesome boosts/defenses, similar to the Primal Nork and Easter events. And the final Dragon reward being boosts (or on-contact tiers) added to a SK weapon?
      • The flute makes the target type non-hostile and automatically sends a command for the creature to follow you.
      • The dungeon gets populated with varied primal-power animals (they can still hurt you when attacking). These are the rats, dogs, etc.
      • How Drakkar handles the normal hostile creatures, not affected by the flute, is obviously a wild card here. They may require you to kill them with the flute, they might not exist during the event at all, they may flee while you play the flute, a lot of possibilities here.

Another event that could be cool. "The circus has come to town". A circus is placed outside of town. It has attractions, games, vendors, and questers.

Example of attractions could be "The House of Horrors" (shows examples of lair creatures rarely, never, or future seen). Or, "The House of Mirrors" (lets you try on future gear or weapons or items). Or, ...

Example of games could be "Toss the ring on the bottle" (the more you ring, the better the prize). Or, "Throw a dart at a balloon" (has an unknown hidden goodie behind each balloon that is rewarded when you puncture it - reveals all un-popped balloon prizes that you failed to get, at the end). Or, ...

Example of vendor items for sale could be, magic popcorn, enchanted hot dogs, prestidigitation cotton candy, or ...

Example of quests could be, "One of our animals has escaped and we need you bring it back to its cage", where each cage (or attraction) could have its own quester (making for a dozen quests). Or, "One of our tamers has disappeared", where you must find them and choose to bring them back or let them go (making for different rewards and options available at the circus). Or, ...
