New Game Version - 12-26-2016

Merry Christmas from all of us at Drakkar!

Major version upgrade today, please note all changes CAREFULLY:

- The access quest for the Invader's Refuge is now *LIVE*
- In an effort to enhance small group play and ease level cap increases for incoming players, the following enhancements have been made to the nameless lands:
  • - Alentor now gives fifteen times the previous faction for Brigand Hearts
    - Shimok's wolves now drop pages three times more often, and in multiple
    quantities.
    - Mandrake roots drop at over double the original rate, and an multiple
    quantities
    - Mormar quest flagging can begin at level 50 now
    - Mormar pages drop at double their previous rate, and can drop in double quantity
    - Ajamtax , Merkon and the banditlord have had their respawn timers halved
    - Lucidescapee now requires only two lunches to be returned, (rather than ten)
    - Hatchlings have lost over half their health, and have had a big combat
    ability reduction. They also carry more than one scale.
    - "Medusa" or "Golem" gems now drop very rarely from remains
    - Mneer wants only two fragments (instead of 10)
    - The Hermit in BDC (allows 36th skill cap increase) has had his damage greatly reduced
    - The river nugget is now four times more likely to drop
    - Wyvern talons are twice as likely to drop, and the associated creature psionic damage has been greatly reduced
- A new SIDE KICK system is now live! This system allows lower level characters to receive benefits from partying with higher level characters. These benefits include
  • - Receiving an effective level of the average level of the entire party
    - Receiving an effective skill of the average skill of the skill you are using, with a minimum of 1/3rd of your effective level
    - Receiving health and energy bonuses proportionate to your level increase (along with saving throws)
    - Ability to temporarily use items/equipment of that level
    - To turn a regular party into a sidekick party, the party leader simply types PARTY SIDEKICK
    - Sidekick parties are limited to 6 players
REFUGE does not REQUIRE a new frontend YET, but you won't be able to access new features without it. The "test" version can be downloaded at:

This will be a SEPARATE install on your hard drive, and your current drakkar.prm and crts folders will NOT be compatible. Also, please do NOT change the default install directory, as crash dumps will be written there.

** INVADERS REFUGE IS NOW LIVE **
  • - Thank you for ALL the blood sweat and tears (mostly tears) helping with this. I'll name specific people if they don't want to be anonymous :)
    - This scenario is designed for the HIGHEST level players, but works fairly well with sidekicked players in an ASSISTANT role (definitely not primary)
    - The new frontend is required to access treasure chests, trapped doors, trapped pictures, etc
    - The arcane quirks and abilities should all be working
    - You may now reach exp level 100!
    - Platinum is a personal currency. You can trade platinum values items, but cannot directly trade it
    - Not all players can see ALL shop keepers (cough)
    - Go SLOOWWWWW

CLASSES:

- Thieves now receive additional backstab multipliers at 25th, 35th, 40th and 42nd level (up to *9 damage)
- Martial Artists
- Now have two additional TO-HIT bonuses on their CLAW lines (Bear/Tiger/Dragon/etc)
- Dragon Pierce now has a substantial target damage reduction component
- Zen of Attack now has an additional TO-HIT bonus, *AND* a strength increase component

INVISIBLE BUT FUN STUFF:
- New functionality to increase EVENT capability. Final preps on the new Nork Event !

Announcing the Primal Nork Event!

The Primal Nork Event is now live!

Simply go to Nork2 acrona, and say "PRIMAL"

Wind your way again through the nork scenario, starting with purchased equipment, nork1, nork2, dressing yourself as you did when you first started! Collect CRAZY equipment, get slaughtered in crazy impossible encounters, and hunt with your friends the way life used to be!

Crazyness:
- Scaled for level 60+ players
- Exp will be gained by up to level 98 characters
- All equipment, armor, treasure drops,weapons have been crazy scaled. I dont even know what they are going to have.
- Non event equipment will not function! You must live off the land!
- Equipment has a limited life span! Keep spares!
- You are going to die.. plan for it... PLAN those resistances
- To exit, just take any portal back to the original lands (GH, nork1,cob, doesnt matter)
- *PLATINUM* will drop on very rare occasions! :) Look around for a use for it!
- If you got power leveled through nork and don't know the content, you need to partner up!

I'm estimating the entire month of march for the event, to be brought back in the future. (its truely designed to be an event).

- The countdown timer on temporary items now works based on game round, not how many commands you enter. They should also properly turn to dust when their timer is met
- The MA "Thorn" line has a new mitigation-mitigator property. (The ability to reduce the amount of damage mitigated by an opponent )
- The MA "Dragon Talons" and "Dragon Bites" not scales to level 42

New Game Version 03-29-2017

Scenario:
- The Invaders Refuge has had a complete combat tuning overhaul beginning at the entry stages and progressing up. This tuning has been designed to make melee characters far more viable BEFORE acquisition of arcane abilities.
- Additional drops have been added to further increase melee to-hit as you progress into the scenario, as well as a new item for the ear slot.

Martial Artist:
- A major change has been made to the way rapid punch operates.
- Offensive combat penalties are no longer "percentages", but rather fixed amounts. As your attack bonus (simulated attacks per round), and strength (helps to-hit) grow, they are no longer just HALVED or reduced to zero, but rather a fixed penalty is applied. The net DPS for higher end MAs is stunning.
- At skill 40, *ALL* defensive penalties are removed from the attack form

NL: The wyvern talon now drops in a "tie-able" format

Thieves:
- Backstab multipliers have been raised by 2 for each increase past 36 (from 6 to 8 at 36, 7 to 9 at 41, 8 to 10 at 42)
- The thief BLADE line now greatly reduces creature move rate while active
- The thief BLADE line now has a range of 4 and an additional round of duration
- The thief personal shadows line now has a +hit bonus

05-05-2017 Balance Changes in testing

Testing a couple balances changes in NL2:

- Skar and Spur are no longer hostile (unless attacked of course)
- The captains in the keep are no longer hostile (unless attacked)

Player feedback:
- Do you find there are any abuses to this
- Do creatures react weirdly, etc.

More balance testing on NL2

Sullen Keep:
- We are attempting to retrofit the armor and HP scaling we discovered in the development of IR back into Sullen Keep.
- Armor of castle creatures has been vastly reduced. The negative side effect of this is that it may have made their 'to-hit' way too week to hit appropriately level characters. Please provide feedback.
- Health of the first level castle crits has been slightly reduced, with a larger scaled reduction as you walk up the levels.

Feature:
- Platinum and Gold months benefits cap has been raised from 36 to 48
Bugs:
- Fixed a major issue with game entry that allowed some advanced disciplines to be overwritten
- Fixed a locking issue with ground items that caused some dropped items to disappear
- Fixed a locking issue with active effects
- Fixed a locking issue with combat
- Fixed a guildhall issue that placed players into an invalid location

New Daily Play Bonus available in Nork 2! Simply take your character to Nork 2 once per day and you will receive a choice of fun bonuses! (Please email us with suggestions for different ones!)

IR Accessible from the Diplomat

The IR town level is now accessible from the diplomat!

Simply ask the diplomat to go to "refuge"

(Note you will still have to finish the access quest to get the more flexible dungeon level teleport)

- IR has had a drop issue fixed with some of the treasure tables
- High level mummys and Banshees now have a chance of having a very nice cloak (need a tailor). You will be able to tell them from their armor icon.
- Additional increases to higher level potion component & food drop rate
